MAD POEMS

I started writing poetry when I was 16. Inspired by a boy in the classroom across mine. It was a secret crush, laced with a little guilt because one of my classmates had made the first declaration of liking that same boy. Even at that age, I had very strong values on how you're not supposed to encroach upon the heart territories of others, especially your friends'.

Since then, I wrote poems about love, falling in love, falling out of love, breaking my heart all the time yet loving again anyway. Once upon a time again and again and again yet somehow never getting any closer to a happily ever after.

At some point I seemed to have lost the ability to fall in love like I used to. My last fierce love was a Mad Hatter to my Mad Alice, loved from afar across the oceans to the rising sun.

I terribly miss writing poems. I want to start again.
